Fruit was a fundamental product in the Ribeira. It was an important part of the food and economic sustenance of the families. They were not only sold, but also exchanged for other products such as rye and corn.
The season began with strawberries and cherries in the month of San Juan. There were pears and early grapes for San Pedro. Figs and early figs followed in July, when pears also continued. In August came some kind of pavías, abrideiros, claudias, peladillos, peaches, quinces and grapes. In September came the arrival of figs and figs, peaches, apples, apples, peaches and walnuts. At the end of September the chestnuts could also begin, depending on how the year was coming. Chestnuts were collected until San Martiño, after this date the larengos (larego), which would be the future pigs to be slaughtered the following year, and the sheep to take advantage of the remaining ones.
